ZEH compliant investment housing orders increased 120 percent from the previous year as well.
On April 20th, Sekisui House (1928:JP) announced that 92 percent of their newly built freestanding houses in 2021 were built to meet ZEH specifications illustrating the demand from homebuyers for these types of houses.
Cumulatively, the company built 69,163 houses nationwide by the end of March, 2022.
In addition to freestanding houses, the company is promoting ZEH in all types of housing, including rental housing and condominiums.
For rental housing, orders for Sekisui’s Sha-Maison ZEH rental housing line doubled to 8,501 units, up significantly 123.3% from the previous year, bringing the cumulative total unit count at 12,307 units.
This means that property investors who bought or owned land consigned Seksui House to build their Sha-Maison design on that land for investment property purposes.
In addition, the number of ZEH units in the Grande Maison series of reinforced strata title condominiums for sale reached 160 completed units, for a cumulative total of 192 units.
As a result, the annual CO2 emissions of homes supplied by the Sekisui House were reduced by approximately 55 percent compared to 2013.
In response to the establishment in 2021 of new top grades for heat insulation performance and primary energy consumption under the Housing Performance Indication System, the company adopted these top grades as standard specifications for its detached and rental housing from April 1, 2022.
The company has also announced that all condominiums to be sold in 2023 and thereafter will be built to ZEH specifications.
