The area in front of Tokyo Station is set to undergo significant change in the coming years.
Tokyo Tatemono has taken the next step in its Urban Redevelopment Project for Yaesu 1-Chome East Area in front of Tokyo Station, establishing a committee for District B of the proposal following permission from the governer.

Part of the government's National Strategic Special Zones (NSSZs) initiative, the project aims to connect Yaesu’s history and tradition with the future thorugh enhancing its transportation functions, including the development of a large bus terminal and a pedestrian network to accommodate a high level of foot traffic.
There are also plans to introduce urban functions such as primary care facilities, a theatre, space for sharing and experiencing knowledge on latest technologies, and conference facilities.
The centrepiece of the site is a 50 story above-ground, 4 story below-ground complex with a footprint of 10,600 square meters.

Disaster preventions are set to be included within the structure, which is designed to be a space for people who cannot make it home to rest.
Planning for the project began in May 2007 with the forming Yaesu 1-Chome Area Local Revitalization Research Council, which was followed by the establishment of an urban development organising committee in June 2008.
Construction is due to begin in 2021, with the site scheduled to be completed by 2025.
