On October 28th, Recruit, owners of the Japanese property portal site SUUMO. announced their survey results on the “Cheapest Rents Within 30 minutes From Tokyo Station”

The survey covered studio and small 1 bedroom rental properties within a 15 minute walk from the property’s closest station within a 30 minute train ride from Tokyo Station. 

Sizes of the units ranged between 10 and 40 square meters. 

The averages were calculated from monthly rents, including management fees, of rental properties listed on the SUUMO property portal site between May and July of 2021.

There was a two way tie for 2nd place between Toda Koen and Warabi Stations, another two way tie for 6th between Ichinoe and Tsudanuma Statons, and a six way tie for 10th between Adachi Kodai, Shimosa Nakayama,Gotanno, Shin Urayasu, Mizue, Maihama and Nishi Arai Stations.

Within Tokyo Prefecture, the cheapest ranked stations was Ichinoe in 6th place, followed in 8th by Uejima, then 10th with Nishi Arai, Gotanno and Mizue Stations.  

The rest were either in neighbouring Chiba or Saitama Prefectures.
