Phoenix Hotel and Chalets in the Japanese village of Hakuba has been rated as one of the country's top ten accommodation venues at US-based travel site Tripadvisor's annual Travelers' Choice Awards. 

Used to identify the top bookable travel experiences globally, winners for the awards are determined using a combination of reviews, opinions and popularity with travellers over the last year.

Phoenix was one of only two snow stay locations to feature in the top 10, joining  Club Med Sahoro - Hokkaido, which was named fourth best.

Reviews published on Tripadvisor this year highlighted the hotel's exemplary service and convenient location.

"They are in the best proximity to all the hire venues, convenience stores and the lantern restaurant for dinner even does a complimentary shuttle service," one guest wrote.

"The owner is truly dedicated to ensuring everyone has the best experience and the food at the restaurant is exquisite."
