According to data recently released by Tokyo Kantei.
On May 17th, Tokyo Kantei released average monthly rent data for condos in the three major metropolitan areas for April, 2022.
The figures were calculated by converting asking rents for condos into a rent per square meter figure.
The numbers below in no way guarantee rent levels of any kind and are presented as averages to illustrate trends. Always consult with a licensed real estate broker for property specific needs.
The average rent for the Greater Tokyo Area (GTA ) was ¥3,371, down 0.2% from the previous month, the first decline in three months.
The GTA consists of Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagawa and Chiba prefectures.
Broken down by prefecture, the results were more nuanced. The average Tokyo Prefecture rent rose for the first time in two months to 3,812 yen, up 0.4% Year-on-Year (YoY).
Saitama, Kanagawa, and Chiba prefectures all posted gains: 1,913 yen (up 3.7% YoY), 2,446 yen (up 0.3% YoY), and 1,857 yen (up 1.3% YoY), respectively.
